Belén Castro's tips: skin care in winter
1. Be aware and consistent in taking care of your skin. For me, this is the first and best piece of advice. To achieve your goals and maintain healthy skin during the winter, the most important thing is consistency.
2. Do not use products with irritating ingredients or abrasive peels , instead opt for products with gentle, natural ingredients.
3. Hydrate your skin to the maximum . My suggestion is to use super protective masks and lipid that provide an extra protective barrier and deeply nourish the skin, providing essential fatty elements that help rebuild the lipid barrier.
4. Don't forget to use sunscreen It helps prevent premature wrinkles and, above all, helps prevent skin cancer. Snow creates a mirror effect that is capable of reflecting up to 80% of ultraviolet rays and this, together with the action of the cold and the wind at this time of year, results in skin that is much drier, more fragile and susceptible to sunburn. So protecting yourself is not just an option, but rather an obligation.
5. Use lip balm. Lip balms work by retaining moisture and creating a protective film on the lip, which acts as a barrier against adverse external factors. Make sure that their ingredients include moisturizing or hydrating substances, such as cocoa butter, shea butter, soothing substances such as lemon balm, witch hazel or centella asiatica, and in more specific balms, healing or regenerating substances.
Something very important: Don't forget your Lipstick with sun protection If you plan to ski this winter, of course try not to share your lip balm, it is a very easy way to transmit diseases.
6. Internal hydration: you have to drink water. Dry skin is not the same as dehydrated skin. Dry skin has less lipids, which makes it less dense, thinner and more sensitive. Dehydrated skin is skin that loses water excessively. Any type of skin can also be dehydrated, so it is very important to hydrate our skin from within by drinking enough water and from outside by using our daily cream.
7. We all know that beauty begins within. My last tip for protecting your skin from the cold, but no less important, is to take care of your diet. A balanced and healthy diet helps our body obtain all the nutrients it needs to maintain the natural hydration of the skin.
