Facing the Back-to-School Season
Returning to Routine After Vacation
Getting back into routine after the holidays can be quite a challenge. The start of the school year should be marked by order and schedules.
The days start getting shorter, and summer feels further and further away. The holidays are over, and it's time to get back to normal life. One of our biggest concerns is ensuring the kids adapt to their responsibilities, and while some may struggle more than others, with a few guidelines, they’ll soon adjust to this new stage.
Recovering the Routine
To make the transition smoother, it’s important to gradually establish a routine from the first days of school, even before. Having dinner, taking a bath, sleeping, and waking up at the same time every day from Monday to Friday is essential. This way, they’ll understand that during the school year, these habits should remain consistent.
Motivation
Kids will miss spending time with family and being at home. We need to motivate them with the excitement of seeing their friends and teachers again, with new books, and all the things they will learn. It’s important to be involved in their homework to encourage their curiosity and sense of responsibility.
Family Breakfast
Some kids may not feel hungry early in the morning, but a complete breakfast is the foundation for performing well throughout the school day. It helps with concentration, memory, and gives them the energy to tackle the day’s activities. It may seem obvious, but nearly 40% of children go to school without breakfast. The key is to wake up earlier and dedicate time to sit together around the table, offering a variety of breakfast foods, including milk, fruits, and cereals. Calcium is essential for their growth, and we shouldn’t forget to monitor the weight of their backpacks.
Exercise
Even though the days get shorter, this shouldn’t be an excuse to reduce physical activity, as it stimulates the production of beneficial substances for neurons and certain brain functions. Playing and running in the park, or taking a short bike ride after school or before homework, is a great way to help them ease into their responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed and to improve their sleep.
Beauty Care
It’s not just the kids returning to routine; we also need to restore their skin and hair to normal. First, their skin needs a deep cleansing, and natural soaps, such as olive oil-based ones, respect their delicate skin and provide the necessary nourishment. It’s crucial to properly hydrate their skin after the daily bath, especially since it’s been exposed to the elements throughout the summer. Additionally, it's time for a visit to the hairdresser; besides starting the year with a fresh look, we can help keep their hair healthy.
