Cómo se elabora un cosmético
Knowing what is moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, nourishing, anti-cellulite, stain-reducing, antioxidant... Understanding its composition, solubility, properties, the reason for the effect attributed to it, how it works... Whether they are vegetable oils, soluble extracts, macerates... And something very important: you must think about the sensation when using the cosmetic—whether you want it to be more fluid or less, the aroma, the color...
By understanding all of this, you can indeed create a formula and adapt it to your needs.
I will begin by defining what is known as dermatological cosmetics. A dermatological cosmetic is one that provides effective solutions for the wide variety of skin conditions. Creams are perhaps the most commonly used pharmaceutical form for external medication in dermatology and are the most used cosmetic worldwide, as they consist of a lipid base that easily integrates active ingredients and vehicles into their composition. It is an evanescent preparation that allows good penetration of active agents, is refreshing, and non-occlusive, as it allows for skin transpiration. They appear as a single phase, are aesthetically elegant, pleasant, and dermatologically well-accepted.
The excipients generally used in the preparation of magistral formulas can basically be of three types: fats (whether liquid, viscous, or solid, such as emollients from olive oil, petroleum jelly, lanolin, shea butter...), powders (which are refreshing, desiccating, and decongesting, the most used are talc, zinc oxide, kaolin...), and liquids (mainly water and alcohol). These excipients can be used individually or mixed together to obtain cosmetic bases.
Cosmetic procedures, and therefore cosmetics, are generally used to reverse visible signs of aging, particularly facial rejuvenation, and to treat skin conditions such as scars, superficial lesions, wounds, vascular problems, and skin disorders.
Natural cosmetics are a gift for our skin as they facilitate greater penetration of active ingredients the more similar they are to the hydrolipidic mantle of the dermis. For this reason, Olivolea’s formulas always integrate natural substances to achieve better results and be truly effective.
