Olivopedia: Emulsion
Emulsion. Homogeneous and stable mixture formed by two immiscible substances, dispersed in the form of small droplets stabilized by a third component, the emulsifying agent. It incorporates both hydrophilic and lipophilic substances into a single product, making it compatible with the skin's hydrolipidic mantle. Its use is very common in cosmetics because it provides great versatility to the final product, allowing for various textures, consistencies, and absorption capacities. Emulsions are used to nourish, protect, and hydrate the skin.
